wirename~ table decoration
Hi there,
Early this morning I made this wire name that function as a table decoration. If you put it on your table, I am sure that your friends that comes near your table will be attracted to it and will ask you questions.
This wirename craft is unique and it's one of the 'niche' in craft business. If you are looking for a niche. You might want to consider this as your niche.
What is wirename niche? does it fall under the category of wires? category of crafts? or jewelery?
For me, it falls under the category of creative craft that uses wires. Same as wire beads.When I tried selling my wire name through ebay, I found out that so many people are selling wire name here.Some selling it cheaply, some selling it expensively.But, I see the potential for this niche market.
Simple economic theory : the supply and demand theory. If there's a supply, surely there are demands for the product because without demands, the supply will not strive. I can try to sell wirename keychain on ebay or any other place but if there's no enough WANTS for my product, I cannot profit.I need to be at least reach the breakeven level in order for me to continue my business in wire name niche industry.
Being a newbie in this niche market is exciting. I am thankful to those websites that help me to cut my learning curve by sharing their wirename pics online where I can see and learned by trying to bend wires according to the their pictures.
However, as I develop my skill as a part time wire name artist, I realized that as time passed, and as I practiced bending wire name, that I also develop my own way or style to bend wires into names. I also believe that anyone can learn to bend wires. As long as they practice and practice and try to bend wires for themselves. It not hard. It's doable.You just have to get your hands 'dirty' by doing it yourself.
My first product was a keychain. I bought a cheap Galvanized Iron (G.I) wires, and I borrowed 3 types of pliers and bought 1 more pliers from the local electrical shop that sell pliers. And I started bending names through trial and error and through 'copying' from free sources on the internet.
Then I upgraded myself. I bought a roll of stainless steel wires from the local hardware shop for RM 10.50 for 1 roll (5ft) size 1.0mm. Then, later on as I managed to sell my wire name I ordered my beautiful coloured wire craft www.beadholique.com

Ring
I made this ring using a bronze craft wire. Made this within 10 minutes.Ring? When you hear that word, what comes to your mind? For some, it'll be the Box Office
Movie, the Lord of the ring. In this movie, it was shown as having an evil power to corrupt anyone that wears it.
However, in this post I wouldn't write in that context. I would see a ring in terms of LOVE, a covenant.It'll be deemed as a symbol of love, symbol of a convenant between lovers, husband and wife. It is most used as a sign of 'Oneness' between 2 person. It is also a sign of promise.
A promise ring can mean different things to different person and before giving this tangible symbol of a commitment, individuals should be certain their promise will be easily understood not only by the person wearing the ring, but by others who may misconstrue the intent of the promise.
Promise rings are small, beautiful pieces of jewelry that are often given between friends or couples to represent a commitment. The most common promise represented by a ring is a precursor to an engagement when a promise ring is exchanged instead of a true engagement ring because the couple may not be the right age to get engaged or they may have financial or other difficulties to overcome before they choose to become fully engaged and set a wedding date.There are many other meanings that can be attributed to promise rings, however, and they can be exchanged between many types of people, including parents and children, best friends, or between an already married couple.

The ring in it's final formOK - here are the tools you will need. Wire cutters, round-nose plier, normal plier,about 9" of wire (I used 18 ga. square gold filled), a finger ring-sizer, and a ring mandrel about the size of our finger.

I learned to make rings by looking at pictures that can be found easily on the internet. It is something that everyone, I believe, can learn to do if they take some time to learn. It is a good hobby. I would recommend anyone to learn this art. But again I do agree that not everyone likes these hobby. It's alright. As long as you find your own way to express yourself..there is this creativity in you that is waiting to be expressed, to be unleashed. Personalized Wire Name Craft??

Meaning that you can get your name shaped from wires. These wires are made of stainless steel wires and can be scupltured into bookmarks, key chains, handphone tags or photo holder.Although, my best sellers are key chains and handphone dangles (these are the easiest to make) , some people don't mind paying extra to get something that can be put on their table.
I practice hard and try to bend one wire name keychain within 3-5 minutes.
Initially, I hurt my fingers trying to learn the art of bending like Beckham, and then I realize that I need to practice, practice and practice. So I copied some beautiful sculptured wirename from the internet, then I bought 1/2 kg G.I wires, then I got myself 4 different types of pliers, then with my 2 bare hands, I try to bend it like *beckham...hehe..but after a while, I got the hang of it and started making decent looking wirename.
Let's repeat that again...PRACTICE...PRACTICE....PRACTICE...you'll make a beautiful wirenames.
At first I gave it as gifts to my closest friends but not long after that some of my friends says that, hey...you can make some money out of these on your free time. So I started a project with our youths at church and I took out about RM150 to buy the intial tools and boom...we've got a money making project among the youths.
I began to practice more so that I can make better wirename and to make people happy receiving my wirename. Usually I share a verse that comes from the book of Isaiah...that talks about God's calling us according to our name. I am also training some people in this craft so that we can target more people.
My main motivation is not the money. It's the opportunity to share with other people the faith that I have and also the opportunity to express myself in a creative way such as bending wire names.
How do I practice? I searched for pics from the net and I try to copy the way they bend each letters...small or big capital letters. However, I noted that each wire name artist has their own 'trademark' style of bending.

Handphone dangle
This morning while waiting for my friend to call me for our appointment, I took a few minutes to make these. A combination of blue, red and black colour. These 3 colours always blend together. My favourites colours.
A personalized handphone dangles? yeah..nice isn't it? have you seen any of these in the handphone shop? I doubt it..because I've never seen one.:-) and because it's a personalized craft, you can't make the same like it again. Yeah, everytime I bend wires into names, every wire name is unique..it depends on my emotions at the time I am bending the wires, depends on what I eat, and etc....
It's just like music. The way I play now is not the same like the way I play yesterday..it's really depends on my being...my physical, my soul and my spirit....it affect my art.
I really like especially the jazz musicians, some of them that I met said to us (in a jazz clinic), he said 'if I eat char koey teow' today..I also play like 'char koey teow'.For me, it sounds funny and a bit 'offensive' for those char koey teow lover.hehe..However, there are some truths in it..whatever we put inside us, that we 'entertain' in our hearts eventually will comes out. Somehow, when we play music...it will also be reveled. It's an art..an art is something that you do to express what is in your heart.
Ok Ok....what's that got to do with the pictures below? haha..good question. Last night I slept late, and I woke up very early this morning and until now I am still waiting:) And I began to feel restless and impatient. So rather than releasing that 'restlessnes' in a negative ways like dwelling in it too much, I decided to think of the power of Jesus' blood..and also the vision of the ministry I am now...God's grace in Borneo...to know Jesus and to make Him known..
SO I spend my time waiting doing this. I hope you all enjoy it. You can also try to bend wires on your own.

Introduction
Wire name craft is a art of bending wires to into names. As people likes to personalize many of their belongings i.e they like to write names on their books, if you go to the beach you might see, on a trees somewhere, written someone's name love somebody..and I see that young people like to see their names in everything that they have i.e handphones, school bags, even tattoo, and etc
So I want to share this craft with many people. This craft is unique. This art has somekind of 'soothing' effect when you're doing them. It can keep your mind away from the stressful things that are happening in your life. It is NOT the only way though.
I've come to realize that whatever tools we use for self-help, if we don't look to God and surrender our every burden to Jesus, then all these tools are bound to fail. Nothing works with God's intervention, or rather it will not last.
