How To Start A Wire Name Craft Business

The bible talks about counting the cost before building a house. Building a business is like building a house i.e we meed to count the cost before embarking on this journey. Do you have what it takes to succeed in craft business?

The key ingredients in order for our wirename jewellery to be a success are:
1. We need to have a doable plan even if we're really busy. Think about the PRODUCTIVITY. How much will it cost to make 1 wire name?
2. You need to have a long-term perspective with the focus on the person you will become and the results you achieve one year from now.
3. You need to have have a specific focus for 30 days at a time on a basic of wirename; You do not have to get in a hurry or speed things up or feel stressed when you are behind. Just realize you are heading down the right road with a pre-determined plan to arrive in a better, happier and more productive place.

You will need to consider how far you want to go in this wire name business. Our investment will vary based on factors like our tools (invest in good tools~buy the best that your budget can allow you),transportation (are you planning to move around selling your wirename?), do you need one? When I started, I know that I would not need an expensive mode of transportation i.e a van as I will be doing wirename from home and I also had a good old Yamaha RXZ that I can use in this business.

You will also need to consider (seriusly consider)the licensing and permits operating location(wire name business can be done from the comfort of your own house),

Please be reminded that in every business, you will also need to source for working capital and initial marketing and advertising budgets. To be a successful wire name artist, remember to carefully do your research and make sure you plan carefully every aspect of your wire name business including the financial investment needed to start a business and the working capital required to achieve positive cash flow.

I started my Personalized Wire Name Business with a start-up capital about $2,000 - $10,000 About. I will be doing it from home.Wire name Business can be operated from home and can be operated on a part-time basis. In the future you can think about opening up a franchise for your wire name business and maybe you can also open up an online wire name store.

You can also make more money by teaching others to appreciate your art. This requires skills..

Business Overview
People all over the world are experiencing a resurgence of interest in the simpler, sweeter things in life--things like handmade birdhouses, hand-dipped candles and handcrafted arts of all kinds. So much so that the crafts industry is booming, with close to $10 billion in annual sales, reports the Association of Crafts and Creative Industries.

If you’re skilled at bending personalized wire name, or at any particular craft, you can satisfy others as well as yourself with a crafts business. The trick is to sell your crafts for enough money to justify your time and materials.

Think about where you’ll sell. Going to art fairs and crafts shows is fun but people who attend these events tend to only buy if your craft is very inexpensive. A good way to solve this problem is by selling your wares to wholesalers or sales representatives who will turn around and market them to retailers.

You can also sell your wirename to the retailers themselves, place your wirename crafts on consignment in retail shops, or sell them yourself via mail order. The advantages to this business are that you get to earn a living doing what you truly enjoy, startup costs are low, special licenses and certifications are nil, and you can start part time if you like and work up to full-time earnings.

While you don’t need a master’s degree in fine arts to be an artisan or wire name crafter, you’ll need a genuine love for your wire name and the talent and skills to turn out items other people will want to buy.

It also helps to have mastered your techniques. If you’ve already successfully turned out wires into personalized wirename keychain, name pin, ring, brooch, and etc, then you have a pretty good idea of how long each wire name takes, what materials you’ll need and how much they cost--all of which are essential to pricing your wares.

The Market

Our customers can be our friends and neighbors, people from your community who attend shows where you display your crafts, or the world at large reached through wholesalers and sales reps. Some wirename artist have had success selling their products through Tupperware-like home parties. If you plan to go the wholesale route, hook up with reps at gift shows, which you can locate by calling local and regional chambers of commerce and convention centers, reading gift-industry publications or contacting craft associations.

Needed Equipment
You need a pair of good hands, wires(get the 20 gauge size), and 4 different sets of pliers. Go and read about this from my past post. Your equipment will depend on what crafts you’ll be turning out. If you’re already crafting, chances are you have the necessary equipment. But take a good look at what you’ve got and decide if there are other pieces of equipment you could use to make your work life faster and easier--remember, the more pieces you turn out, the higher your income will be.

Testimonials

I bought the 'How to Make Wire Names" book and I am GLAD I found it. I am a 66 yr old disabled man on dialysis and now I have a way to make a living!

Doing wire names at festivals and farmers markets and my worst day I made $100. Usually I make between $200 & $300 a day. Not bad for "working" 10 hours on a weekend.

I love what I am doing and the people I meet making wire name pins and pendants
Thanks for showing me this opportunity...
